Orlando Pirates Drop to Fourth Place Following 3-0 Defeat to TS Galaxy While AmaZulu FC Climbs to Third with a 3-1 Victory in KZN Derby

This past Saturday turned out to be a tough day for Orlando Pirates as they faced a crushing defeat in the DDC.

The team was outclassed by TS Galaxy, losing 3-0 at Sturrock Park in Johannesburg.

This humbling result not only ended their winning streak but also sent them tumbling down the league standings.

A Tough Setback

Before this match, the Buccaneers had been riding high after securing victories against Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants.

However, the defeat against the Rockets was a major setback.

Now, Pirates find themselves in fourth place in the league, having accumulated just eight points from their first four matches.

AmaZulu’s Triumph in the KZN Derby

On a brighter note for AmaZulu FC, they enjoyed a strong performance in the KZN derby, defeating their rivals 3-1 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

Bayanda Thabethe, Sipho Ngubane, and Tebogo Mashigo all found the net for the winning side, while Khumalo scored a consolation goal for Abafana Bes’thende.

This victory marked the second win for Vusumuzi Vilakazi, who took over as head coach of the Usuthu reserve side at the start of the season.

AmaZulu’s Recovery

Despite a rocky start to their campaign, where they only managed draws in their first three matches, AmaZulu bounced back with a narrow 1-0 victory over Chippa United last week.

Mashigo’s goal was the difference-maker, and now, with this latest win, AmaZulu has climbed to third place in the league with nine points from five games played.

Other Matches and Results

In another match, Richards Bay secured a solid 2-0 victory over Marumo Gallants, who are struggling significantly this season with five consecutive losses.

Goals from Wandile Ngema and Olwethu Nzimande sealed the win for the Natal Rich Boyz.

Royal AM was supposed to face Cape Town City, but that match was forfeited due to a player shortage in the Thwihli Thwahla squad.
