One man injured and a woman arrested after a shooting in Pioneer Square neighborhood

A man was injured and a woman was arrested after a gunshot in the Pioneer Square area early Wednesday morning.

At 2:30 a.m., police on patrol between 1st Avenue South and South Washington Street heard many gunshots.

Almost immediately, a 911 caller reported that a man had been shot in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South.

The 72-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen was treated by responding cops.

Seattle Fire Department paramedics also arrived and transferred the man in critical condition to Harborview Medical Center.

According to witnesses, the female suspect accosted and then shot the victim as she went by him on the sidewalk.

She escaped on foot, but was quickly apprehended by police nearby.

Additionally, cops discovered and confiscated a firearm from the woman’s cross-body bag after arresting her.

The 29-year-old woman was taken into the King County Jail for assault in the first degree.
