On Putfontein Road in Benoni, three men were wounded in a cash-in-transit robbery.

Following a cash-in-transit theft on Putfontein Road in Benoni this afternoon, three security officers were hurt.

At 14:20, ER24 paramedics arrived to find several security personnel already present. A light motor vehicle was discovered well alight in the middle of the road, alongside a destroyed cash-in-transit truck. An explosion blew the car open completely, scattering debris across the veld.

Three guys seen walking around the scene were evaluated by medics and confirmed to have escaped with minor injuries. Fortunately, there were no significant injuries or fatalities.

The males were treated and then transported to hospitals in the area for additional treatment.

Authorities from the locality were on the site to conduct additional investigations.
