Life is full of unexpected turns, and for Olivia Bowen, the highs and lows of pregnancy have been deeply emotional.
Just weeks away from welcoming her baby girl, the former Love Island star is sharing her pregnancy journey with honesty and heart—offering glimpses into her daily life, while also opening up about loss and healing.
Bumping Along the Final Stretch
On Friday, Olivia posted a glowing mirror selfie to her Instagram, proudly showing off her baby bump in a comfy bralette and joggers.
The caption? A relatable little update: “She’s so high now right up in my lungs.”
The 31-year-old, who shares two-year-old son Abel with husband Alex Bowen, has been documenting these final weeks as she awaits the arrival of their daughter.
Soaking Up the Last Moments as a Family of Three
Last month, Olivia shared a sunny video from their latest trip to Spain—likely their final vacation before baby number two arrives.
The clip captured laid-back beach moments, matching swimwear, and lots of love as Olivia wrote: “Another trip to Spain – the last one before baby girl comes.
Next time we’ll return as a family of four to our own villa out here – never felt so lucky.”
From colorful bikinis to breezy sundresses, Olivia embraced vacation style while relaxing with Alex and Abel.
In one sweet photo, she cuddled up with her boys on a beach lounger in a black-and-white mesh dress, savoring precious family time.
A Pregnancy with Unexpected Grief
While Olivia has embraced the joy of her growing family, her journey hasn’t been without pain.
During a February appearance on Loose Women, she bravely revealed that she was initially expecting twins—but tragically lost one early in her pregnancy.
Opening up about the experience, Olivia explained that the couple found out they were expecting two babies during a six-week scan, just before Christmas.
“We had a friend in the back of the car, thinking it would be just a normal check-up,” she recalled.
Then I saw two babies on the screen. I was floored.”
Losing One Baby Without Warning
At the scan, doctors told the couple that one of the twins no longer had a heartbeat.
Olivia admitted there were no signs—no pain, no bleeding—that anything was wrong.
“We were expecting to have these two little babies,” she said, visibly emotional.
The experience was later confirmed as vanishing twin syndrome, a condition that occurs in around 36% of twin pregnancies.
Finding Meaning in Loss
Though heartbroken, Olivia found some comfort in the way her body responded naturally.
“One of the beautiful things about it,” she shared, “is that the baby just absorbs back into your body.
It sounds strange, but that’s something we’ve really been holding onto.”
By 14 weeks, she explained, the baby had fully absorbed.
“It’s tremendously sad knowing they’re still in there somehow,” she said.
“But I feel so lucky to have even experienced the idea of having twins, even for that brief moment.”
Alex Opens Up About the Loss
Alex Bowen, who met Olivia during Love Island in 2016, also shared his emotional perspective.
As an only child with no relationship with his father, the idea of having twins meant the world to him.
“I thought it was 100% happening,” he said. “I built this whole future in my mind. It felt amazing.”
Staying Strong Together
Despite the sadness, the couple has leaned on each other—and their little son—as they prepare for the next chapter.
Olivia continues to update fans with honesty, and their family is clearly finding strength through love and shared experience.
