Oldham dog eliminated for attacking two ladies

Two women were brought to the hospital after being mauled by a vicious dog that escaped from a nearby residence.

Saturday morning at 10 a.m., armed police responded to Shakespeare Road in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

The ‘aggressive’ dog was eliminated at the site by specialized police officers. Greater Manchester Police disclosed that the cat had escaped from a nearby residence.

Both casualties were taken from the site to a hospital. Their injuries are severe but not fatal.

A man, age 29, was detained for violating the Dangerous Dogs Act. It has not yet been determined what breed of dog the dog was.

Due to the quantity of people in the area and the injuries caused, the dog was euthanized, according to a GMP spokesperson.

This afternoon, a police vehicle was spotted in front of a residence on Shakespeare Road. An investigation is now ongoing.

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Police stated, “This morning around 10 a.m., police responded to reports of a violent dog that had attacked two individuals in the Shakespeare Road neighborhood of Oldham.”

“When officers arrived, they discovered that two people had been mauled by a dog suspected to have escaped from a residence and was acting aggressively.

Both women have been taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that are considered critical but not life-threatening.

Due to the quantity of people in the area and the injuries sustained, the dog was euthanized as a safety precaution due to the nature of the incident and the severity of the injuries.

“A 29-year-old male was detained at the scene for permitting a dog to be dangerously out of control and injure another person in violation of the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991.
