Obinikpa FC Wins 2021/2022 Amaokpala Community Football Competition

With a scintillating display of hard work, teamwork and spirit of sportsmanship, Obinikpa Football Club emerged the winner of Amaokpala 2021/2022 Community Football Competition.

The tournament, held at Holy Ghost Academy, Amaokpala, Orumba North Local Government Area, was sponsored by Amaokpala Development Union, Diaspora Branch.

Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the football competition is one of the activities organized for the youths of the community to help them bond with one another, develop meaningful relationships and reduce anti – social behaviours.

At the end of the tournament, Obinikpa FC came first and went home with five hundred-thousand-naira cash prize, a trophy, with additional one hundred thousand naira from a philanthropist, while Ajango FC, which came second smiled home with two hundred thousand naira.

The third position, Amaokwe FC, received fifty thousand naira while others received consolation prizes for their efforts.

Speaking at the event , the Chairman Anmaokpala in Diaspora, Dr. Chukwudi Okeke, represented by the Treasurer of Amaokpala Development Union Diaspora Branch, Mr. Emmanuel Okoli, who described the event as the first of its kind, noted that it is a unique one aimed at promoting peace and unity in the community.

He encouraged the youths to always participate in sports or other regular physical activities, which according to him, is good for the mind, body and soul.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Amaokpala Development Union, Mr. Jude Ezeudegbe and a stakeholder in the community, Mr. Josephat Okoli, thanked Amaokpala in Diaspora for inspiring youths of the community.

The coach of Obinikpa FC, Mr. Samuel Nwankwo and the Goal Scorer, Mr. Nkemakonam Okoro, expressed  joy  noting that the victory was a great feat.

Part of activities that climaxed the event were the tour of Amaokpala Primary Health Care Centre, Iyiocha lake, Odo River and Mmiri be Orizu, all in the community to seek possible ways of harnessing the tourism potential  for robust development in the community.
