NYSC Holds Cultural Carnival At Anambra Permanent Orientation Camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu Awka South Council Area

To expose Nigerian youths to different cultures and languages in the country, members of the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, 2021 Batch C Stream One in Anambra, yesterday, held cultural carnival at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.

The cultural carnival, according to the state coordinator of the scheme,Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, is a ritual by which Corps members are brought together to enable them appreciate the beauty, gains and strength of the country in its diversity.

She reminded Corps members that maintaining Nigeria’s unity is a shared responsibility, with a role for them to play.

The NYSC Coordinator, who described Ndi-Anambra as accommodating, commended Governor Willie Obiano for the numerous supports his administration is giving to the NYSC and Corps members serving in the state, and expressed hope that his successor will sustain the gesture to enable the state continuously enjoy the benefits of the scheme.

Correspondent Joseph Egbeocha reports that performance by different cultural groups, martial arts, sack race, thread in the needle, catching the rain, filling the can were activities that featured during the carnival.
