NUJ Election : Chairmanship Candidate Ọnwụmelu Visits ABS Chapel, Seeks Support 

A Chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming triennial delegates conference of the Nigeria Union Journalists Anambra State Council Comrade Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu has visited the ABS Chapel of the union and solicited the support of Chapel members.

Chidinma Ikeanyionwu reports that Comrade Onwumelu has held the position of Treasurer  of the State Council of the Nigeria Union Journalists before vying for the post of chairman of the union.

Comrade Onwumelu during the campaign tour  members of the ABS chapel of the NUJ in Anambra State for supporting the late Mrs Tochi Udorji-Omelu in the Press center building project.

The Chairmanship candidate urged journalists not to vote on sentiments but on disposition and the candidate’s desire to bring the needed change to the union when elected.

Responding, the Director of News and Current Affairs Department of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Gab Okpalaeze and the former secretary of NUJ in Anambra State Dr Emeka Arinze thanked the candidate for the visit urging everyone not to compromise their conscience.

Earlier the ABS NUJ Chapel caretaker committee Chairman, Reverend Ejike Abana urged members to vote for somebody without questionable character.

Meanwhile, the ABS Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has visited the Anambra News Papers Printing and Publishing Company Awka for support to her candidate Mrs Ngozi Obileri who is vying for Vice Chairmanship of the union.

The visit was geared towards presenting her candidate in the forthcoming NUJ Triennial Delegates conference to her sister state media house.

Receiving some of the chapel members, the chairman of the Anambra Newspapers  Printing and Publishing Company Mr Stanley Nwakor explained that it is in the interest of their chapel to vote for the right candidate for the union.

For  Mrs Rose Oranye, an Editor with the outfit the two chapels are siblings by same parents which is the State government and assured of their support towards the candidate.

The Chairman of the ABS, chapel of the union Reverend Ejike Abana while introducing members of the campaign team said the ABS candidate has what it takes to help take the union to the desired status, calling on members of Anambra News Papers Printing and Publishing Company to give their full support to the candidate.

The Vice Chairmanship candidate Mrs Ngozi Obileri stated her reasons for vying for the post and called on the chapel for their support.
