An incident aboard a FlySafair flight has ignited public outrage after SABC employee Nobuntu Mkhize was filmed making racially offensive comments.
Mkhize, the daughter of late journalist and liberation hero Khaba Mkhize, was caught in a heated argument with flight attendants over a drink request.
The situation escalated as she hurled insults at a Coloured flight attendant, referencing stereotypes and boasting about her own status.
Heated Exchange Captured on Video
In a video now widely shared on social media, Mkhize can be heard making demeaning remarks: “You are a Coloured from Mitchells Plain, all these gold rings but no degree.
Right now, when we land, I’m going to take an Uber home.
You don’t even have a driver’s licence.
You don’t even have a car.”
Her tirade continued as she invoked her father’s name, claiming privilege and influence: “You don’t know who my father is…I am an ANC b***.”
The footage has sparked condemnation from political parties and human rights groups alike.

DA Lays Criminal Charges
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has taken legal action by filing a charge of crimen injuria against Mkhize for her remarks targeting the Coloured community.
DA Western Cape Leader Tertuis Alfred Simmers and Subcouncil 15 Chairperson Angus McKenzie, accompanied by the flight attendant, laid the charge at the Bishop Lavis police station.
PA Files Complaint with Human Rights Commission
The Patriotic Alliance (PA) announced plans to lodge a formal complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
Kenny Kunene, the party’s Deputy President, condemned Mkhize’s behavior as undermining the constitutional values of unity, dignity, and respect.
“Racism, irrespective of its source, has no place in South Africa,” Kunene stated.
“As a nation scarred by racial injustice, we must reject all forms of discrimination.
Nobuntu Mkhize’s conduct dishonors the legacy of her father, who fought against inequality and injustice.”
ANC Launches Internal Investigation
The African National Congress (ANC) has also voiced its disapproval, particularly over Mkhize’s use of the party’s name to justify her actions.
National Spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri revealed that the ANC
