No camp is excluded from Kano APC congress – Ganduje

Kano State Governor, Dr Umar Ganduje, has declared that no camp among APC stalwarts in the state is excluded from the party’s state congress scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 16 in the ancient city.

Governor Ganduje made the assertion during a stakeholder meeting of the All-Progressive Congress held at the Africa House, Government House, Kano state.

He said the planned congress of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) is going to hold as scheduled despite protest by the Joint Stakeholders Forum led by Senators Ibrahim Shekarau and Barau Jibril, along with four other members of the House of Representatives from the state.

He said Congress will follow all democratic processes.

“The congress will hold and the doors are opened to all from every camp to come and contest.

It is either by election or by consensus.

“Even where there are no opposing candidates, the contestant will still be subjected to voting,” Gianduja said.

He said a senator, 20 Federal Legislators, 28 State Legislators and others are working towards the success of Congress.

On the protest by some members of the party on the allegations of non-consultation on party affairs and imposition of candidates, the governor said it’s a disservice to the party since they have always been consulted and whatever position they are holding today is because of the party and its structures in the state.

“We have very strong members of their camps working with us in strategic areas for the success of the state Congress, how can they say they are not represented, “Ganduje added.

House Leader, Doguwa, who spoke on behalf of 20 members of the House of Representatives, assured their support to governor Ganduje’s effort to make the party stronger.

Senator Gaya also commended the governor, saying that “When I was a governor, people followed me, then who am I not to follow governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje now? I cannot be a party to any ploy against our able governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, who spoke on behalf of all APC members in the House, 28 members, said, “We are solidly behind any decision reached here at the stakeholders meeting.

“On behalf of our members in the House, we are ready to accept any decision Your Excellency, Sir,” the Speaker said.

A total of 3,320 delegates from all the 44 local governments are set for the congress slated for Saturday, 16th October, while 53 positions are to be contested.
