Hashimu Dungurawa, the state Chairman of NNPP, made the announcement regarding the petition to the NJC during a discussion with journalists in Kano State.

The party has expressed its concerns about the comments made by Justice Anya during his judgment on the Kano governorship elections.

Alleged Comments by Justice Anya

Justice Anya’s remarks during the delivery of his judgment have stirred controversy.

He reportedly stated, “Instead of some Kano politicians to be allowed to use banditry and violence to abort democracy in Kano State, justice will be used to stop them from destroying democracy in Kano and upward.”

Dissatisfaction with the Verdict

Dungurawa expressed his dissatisfaction with the judge’s comments, suggesting that the NJC had rendered its verdict based on sentiments.

The NNPP has formally petitioned the NJC to address these concerns and assess whether the judge’s verdict, influenced by alleged death threats, was just and impartial.

Challenging the Judge’s Language

The NNPP Chairman strongly objected to the language used by Justice Anya, asserting that it was inappropriate for a judge, who is expected to uphold the principles of justice and the rule of law.

He highlighted comments that seemed to go beyond the scope of judicial decorum and appeared to cast aspersions on the NNPP’s leadership and members.
