Toronto was rocked by a shocking incident on the evening of Sunday, January 4, 2026, when a 46-year-old Nigerian man lost his life in a shooting at the Yorkdale GO Bus Terminal.

The terminal, located near Yorkdale Road and Allen Road, became the scene of a violent confrontation that has left the community in disbelief.

According to the Toronto Police Service, officers were called to the terminal around 7 p.m. after reports of gunfire.

Preliminary investigations suggest that both the victim and the suspect had boarded a GO bus at the terminal.

During the ride, the suspect allegedly shot the victim before fleeing on foot.

When police arrived, they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The deceased has been identified as Osemwengie Irorere, 46, a Nigerian national.

Authorities have expressed condolences to his family as the investigation continues.

Court Proceedings

Gibson was scheduled to make his first court appearance at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Finch Avenue West on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in room 105.
