A terrifying plot to abduct children in Kaduna State was foiled thanks to swift action by the Nigeria Police Force.
In what could have been a tragic situation, 76 boys and girls were rescued unharmed from a potentially dangerous encounter in the Kasuwan Magani area.
Intelligence Sparks Immediate Action
The Kaduna State Police Command received crucial intelligence on January 5, 2026, revealing that bandits were planning to target motorists transporting children through the region.
Acting without delay, the Divisional Police Officer of Kasuwan Magani mobilized a team of officers to intercept the threat.
Children Rescued Safely
When the police arrived, they engaged the suspected attackers and successfully repelled them.
The operation resulted in the rescue of seventy-six children—both boys and girls—ranging in age from seven to twenty years.
Remarkably, all the children emerged from the ordeal unharmed, underscoring the efficiency and bravery of the responding officers.
Suspects Arrested
Three suspects were apprehended during the operation: Jonathan John, 25; Oliver Magaji, 27; and Bitrus Sawaba, 23.
Early investigations indicated that the suspects intended to transport the children to various parts of the country for child labor and domestic work.
The trio is now in police custody as authorities continue to probe their activities.
Ensuring Children’s Safety
The rescued children are currently being kept safely at the Command Headquarters while authorities work to locate and verify their parents or guardians.
The Kaduna State Police Command has also launched further investigations to uncover the full scope of the incident and identify any other individuals who may have been involved.
Once inquiries are complete, the suspects will face court charges.
Police Urge Public Cooperation
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force Public Relations Officer, emphasized the importance of community support in preventing such crimes.
He encouraged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information that can aid proactive policing.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in protecting lives and property,” he said, “and we urge the public to assist us by reporting any suspicious activities immediately.”

The children were recovered after a discreet, intelligence-led operation following a report made on December 31, 2025, at the New Nyanya Division in Karu Local Government Area.
