Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency has approved mesh-grids for Output-based funding subsidy, as part of its $550 million Nigeria Electrification Program created in collaboration with the African development bank.

Mesh-grids, the proprietary technology of Okra Solar, is regarded as the most scalable solution for last-mile energy access as it reduces cost of last mile energy delivery by up to 60%.

The combination of the subsidy plus cost savings of Okra solar’s mesh-grid technology now makes it financially viable for developers to electrify hard to reach off-grid communities.

More communities are now able to receive reliable access to energy for the first time.

If more developers take advantage of this opportunity, more Nigerians living off-grid will finally have access to power and a chance to better their lives, thus contributing to the eradication of poverty and economic development of the country.
