Niger council chairman suspended over A misappropriation of funds

Dr Suleiman Sheshi, the chairman of the Bida Local Government Area (LGA) in Niger State, has been suspended by councillors in the LGA.

The lawmakers said in a letter to the state’s governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, dated November 8, 2021, that the council chairman had been suspended for six months for three offenses, including alleged misappropriation of local government funds and project execution without seeking legislative approval.

It read in part;  “The Executive Chairman is misappropriating the Local Government funds without the consent and approval of the legislative house.
” A letter of suspension which was endorsed and signed by 12 out of the 14 councillors in the council, has been sent to the State House of Assembly, Ministry for Local Government, security agencies among others.
