Brazilian forward Neymar has suffered a serious knee injury during Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay, which could keep him out of football for the rest of the year.
Neymar landed awkwardly after challenging Nicolas de la Cruz for the ball in the first half of the game and was taken off the field on a stretcher.
On Wednesday, October 18, Al Hilal confirmed via a statement that Neymar tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and his meniscus.
This is the latest in a series of injuries for Neymar, who has been plagued by injuries since leaving FC Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
In a post on his Instagram page, Neymar described the injury as the “worst of his life” and urged for support from family and friends.
