NDLEA Intercepts Colorado Consignment Disguised as Boxing Kits at Lagos Airport on New Year’s Day

Drug Seizure at MMIA Ikeja

NDLEA operatives at Murtala Muhammed International Airport intercepted a concealed consignment of Colorado, an intense strain of cannabis, arriving from the US.

Disguised as boxing kits, the shipment weighed 1.80 kilograms and entered the country through Cairo on an Egypt Airlines flight.

Arrest and Operation Details

Following a weeklong intelligence-led operation, the agency apprehended Olorunfunmi Saheed Olakunle, the intended recipient of the intercepted consignment, on January 6.

Saheed is accused of distributing the potent psychoactive substance to dealers across Lagos State.

Accused’s Testimony and Alleged Supplier

Saheed revealed that he regularly distributes such shipments to various recipients on behalf of his childhood friend, Sagir Salami, based in the United States.

His statement implicates Salami as the supplier of these illicit substances, leading to their circulation in Lagos.

The seizure underscores NDLEA’s efforts to curb the trafficking of dangerous narcotics into the country and their continuous pursuit of those involved in the distribution network.
