NCAA Upgrades Anambra Airport To CAT 6

The Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport in Umueri has been upgraded by the NCAA to aerodrome rescue and fire fighting category 6, allowing it to operate Boeing 737-700 or equivalent aircraft.

In a letter to the state’s governor, Chief Willie Obiano, NCAA Director-General Musa Nuhu expressed his agreement.

“This is to tell His Excellency that the on-site assessment of the current facilities and people at the fire station found that the level of protection is appropriate to and compatible with airport rescue and fire fighting category 6 operation,” according to part of the letter.

“In view of the above, the Authority hereby grants approval al for the upgrade of the Anambra International Cargo Airport to aerodrome rescue and firefighting (ARFF) category 6 to operate Boeing 737-700 or its equivalent.”

The upgrade reflects Gov Obiano’s determination towards ensuring that the Anambra airport functions at full capacity to offer ndi Anambra the best services.
