Myles Jack is arrested after police report gunfire at his Frisco Texas home during early morning welfare check

Myles Jack, the former UCLA standout and seven-year NFL linebacker, was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after police reported hearing gunshots at his home in Frisco, Texas.

The incident unfolded during a welfare check that left neighbors and law enforcement on edge.

Early Morning Disturbance Prompts Police Response

Frisco police said officers were called to check on Jack’s well-being at around 5:40 a.m. When they arrived, they reportedly heard gunshots from inside the residence.

According to authorities, Jack then broke a second-story window and fell to the ground.

Injuries Treated and Charges Filed

Jack was transported to a nearby hospital where he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries from the fall.

No one else was inside the home at the time.

Police have charged him with “Deadly Conduct – Discharge of a Firearm,” a third-degree felony, as well as “Discharge of Firearm in Certain Municipalities,” classified as Class A misdemeanors.

It remains unclear whether Jack has retained legal representation or if he has been released.

A Tragic Echo in the Same Community

Frisco has recently been in the spotlight for a similar, tragic event.

Last month, Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland died by apparent suicide following a welfare check at his apartment.

During that incident, Kneeland had crashed his car after a police pursuit and was later found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Warning Signs Heard by Authorities

Dispatch recordings obtained by TMZ Sports revealed that Kneeland’s girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, warned officers that he was armed and at risk of harming himself.

She reportedly said, “He will end it all,” highlighting the severity of the situation and the challenges officers face during welfare checks involving firearms.

The NFL Community Reacts

The news of Kneeland’s death struck a chord with many in the NFL community.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who lost his brother to suicide in 2020, expressed profound grief, saying, “It’s been a very tough day… heavy, heavy, heavy hurt for Marshawn.

I hurt for his family, his girlfriend, and every one of his teammates.”
