Mykhailo Mudryk has reached out to Chelsea supporters, urging them not to lose faith in him as he awaits the outcome of his ongoing doping case.
The 24-year-old winger, who has been sidelined since late November 2024, shared a heartfelt New Year’s message to reassure fans that he hasn’t given up on returning to the pitch.
A High-Profile Transfer and Sudden Silence
Mudryk joined Chelsea in January 2023 for a staggering £88million, immediately becoming one of the club’s most expensive signings.
His early promise, however, has been overshadowed by controversy.
The Ukrainian last played in a Europa Conference League match on November 28, 2024, before being provisionally suspended the following month after testing positive for a banned substance.
What We Know About the Case
While Mudryk has consistently denied any wrongdoing, official charges were filed in June 2025.
Ukrainian reports suggest the substance involved is meldonium, a claim Daily Mail Sport understands to be accurate.
Since the suspension, Mudryk has kept a low profile but occasionally updated fans on social media, giving glimpses of hope despite the ongoing uncertainty.
A Personal Note to Supporters
In his latest social media post, Mudryk directly addressed Chelsea fans, expressing gratitude for their support and asking them to stand by him.
“Happy New year to all my fans,” he wrote. “I just wanted to say thank you for your support.
I see all your messages and truly appreciate them, so please don’t give up on me as I not give up on myself. Can’t wait to see you soon.”
The message reflects a player determined to stay mentally strong while navigating a career-defining challenge.
The Potential Consequences
If Mudryk is found guilty of the doping charge, he could face a ban of up to four years, which would have a major impact on his Chelsea career.
The timing of the case’s conclusion remains unclear.
WADA and the Waiting Game
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) president, Witold Banka, provided some insight into the process in November 2025.
“First of all, we are waiting for a disciplinary decision in his case from the Football Association of England.
As of today, we do not know when it will come,” Banka said.
He added that WADA could appeal the FA’s decision if it’s deemed too harsh or too lenient, meaning Mudryk’s situation may take months to fully resolve.
Mudryk’s Own Words
Earlier, after his provisional suspension, Mudryk released a statement emphasizing his shock and confusion over the positive test.
“I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to The FA contained a banned substance,” he said.
“This has come as a complete shock as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.
I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon.”
What’s Next for the Chelsea Winger
For now, Mudryk and Chelsea fans are in limbo.
There’s no set date for a disciplinary decision, leaving the player’s future uncertain.
Despite the setback, Mudryk’s messages suggest he is mentally preparing for a comeback, while supporters hope to see him back in blue sooner rather than later.
