Move Back To Site As The Rains Subsides, Delta Govt Tells Contractors

Delta State Commissioners for Works, (Urban/Highways) Mr Noel Omodon and Rural/Riverine roads, Hon. Solomon Golley, have called on contractors handling Dtate Government projects to move to site immediately the rains subsides.

The commissioners made the call tiday in Asaba during their maiden meeting with contractors handling roads, drainages and bridge projects in the state.

Engr Omodon who appreciated the contractors for honouring the invitation to the meeting stated that the State Government was working on overhauling and improving on the infrastructure of the state.

He advised the contractors to ensure that standard materials were used according to specification, saying that they must not compromise or cut corners.

The Urban and Highways commissioner added that the state government would not take it lightly with any contractor whose project failed within the period of agreement, even as he stated that certificates raised on shoddy jobs would not be signed.

The Rural and Riverine commissioner, Hon Solomon Golley on his part admonished the contractors to always have recourse to the ministry whenever they have any challenge on the projects they are handling.

Speaking on behalf of the contractors, the CEO of DNI Engineering LTD Alhaji Ibrahim thanked the commissioners for works for convoking the meeting, even as he stated that the contractors would work hand in hand with the state government.

Present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr Edafioghor; the Director, Highways, Engr Joshua Egube, the Director, URR (North), Engr (Dr)(Mrs) Juliet Aboloje, the Director, URR (Central) Engr Lofty Onyemali among others.
