Ministry Of Finance Pledges Support To Swan

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Finance, Mr. Temitope Hundogan has pledged the support of the State Government to the Society for Women Accountants in Nigeria (SWAN), assuring that the present administration is interested in the professional and ethical conduct of every professional body.

Hundogan, who made the pledge during the courtesy visit by the EXCO members of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN) to his office at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, expressed his readiness to assist the organisation in achieving its corporate social responsibility as a non-profit organisation with the primary goals of helping vulnerable young people against sexual violence.

He acknowledged that the Association has been at the forefront of identifying physically challenged boys and girls, educating and identifying indigent students, visiting aged citizens to provide their immediate needs and ensuring unity of purpose among accountants.

Appreciating the National President of SWAN, Mrs. Nwamara Nnaji and her team for the visit, Hundogan expressed confidence in the ability of the SWAN leadership to break barriers and make an outstanding impact on society.The Permanent Secretary advised women, who are not delivering on their jobs as accountants, to eschew the idea of cutting corners, stressing that such practice will not aid their professional growth.

The National President of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria, Mrs. Nwamara Nnaji, FCA, explained that the visit was in line with the tradition of the SWAN EXCO to pay courtesy visits to distinguished personalities in order to assure them of the Association’s support towards the growth of the society.

She said: “It is a thing of joy visiting you as Permanent Secretary of this Ministry. It is gratifying to know that one of our own has achieved this great feat. Your achievement will be a special one. You will be a reference point. We are proud of you. We thank God for your elevation and pray for divine wisdom in delivering your mandate”.

Nnaji explained the various responsibilities of SWAN and listed some of its achievements including empowering members and supporting the female wing of ICAN in carrying out its corporate social responsibilities.

She, however, appealed to the Permanent Secretary for support in sustaining its sponsorship activities as well as encouraging members in the Lagos State Chapter to turn out en-masse for meetings, seminars and workshops.
