Phupho Gumede K’s career had already blossomed before the reality TV show, having orchestrated major fashion moments on television, red carpets, and fashion spreads in editorials. Many were introduced to him on Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) season 1 as Ayanda Ncwane’s brother and stylist.

The talented stylist, who was born in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal, says he’s love for fashion started from a very young age. Speaking to Drum, Phupho says his influence comes from being surrounded by women most of his life.

“I  was 11 years old when I started sketching my own designs. At 13 years old, I designed a custom garment for my sister Ayanda which she wore at the South African Music Awards,”

He’s styled Ayanda for the 2016 Crown Gospel Music Awards, and recently styled influencer and fashionista Zoe Msutwana’s look at the Bridgerton Affair this past weekend.

It’s no secret that Ayanda’s fashion sense was always a talking point on season 1 of RHOD,  the same can be said on the new Netflix reality show Young, Famous and African.

On the much-talked-about show, cast members such as Khanyi Mbau, Diamond Platnumz and Annie Idibia all wear designer clothes that have viewers talking.
