The mystery of Joslin Smith’s disappearance still hangs over the community of Saldanha Bay, South Africa, one year after she vanished.
On Tuesday, February 19, it will mark a full year since the young girl, with blonde hair and green eyes, disappeared from her home in the Middelpos informal settlement in Diazville.
The case has left the nation in uncertainty, but a psychic’s unsettling insights are casting a new light on what might have happened to her.
The Unsettling Predictions of a Medium
According to Kandis Starr, a US-based medium known for her paranormal work, Joslin Smith may no longer be alive.
Starr, after several sessions trying to connect with Joslin’s spirit, revealed her chilling conclusion.
She shared with The South African, “I do not believe she’s alive.
I believe she was dead before they reported her missing.”
These claims come from Starr’s supernatural sessions, the most recent one in August 2024.
During her spirit box session, Starr said she communicated with her “guides” to reach out to Joslin’s spirit.
What she heard was disturbing: a young girl’s voice, which Starr believes was Joslin’s, indicating that the child had suffered abuse and might have been involved in witchcraft rituals.
The Alleged Kidnapping and Trafficking Scheme
Joslin’s mother, Kelly Smith, alongside her boyfriend Jacquin “Boeta” Appollis, and a male friend, have been charged with kidnapping and child trafficking.
The authorities accuse them of selling Joslin, allegedly to fund their drug habits.
This grim possibility casts a shadow over the case as the investigation continues.
The trio is due back in court on February 28 for their next appearance at the Western Cape High Court.
A Memorial Walk and Community Support
As the anniversary of Joslin’s disappearance approaches, residents of Diazville are planning a special memorial walk in her honor.
The walk will take place on February 19, starting at 10:00 AM outside Joslin’s family home in the Middelpos area of Saldanha Bay.
The event is organized by the Patriotic Alliance, a local political party, and aims to show that while Joslin remains physically missing, she will never be forgotten.
A member of the party posted on Facebook, “Still physically missing but not from our hearts and minds,” reflecting the deep emotional impact her disappearance has had on the community.
