Breton has been a part of marine research since he was tagged during an OSEARCH expedition off the coast of Nova Scotia in 2020.

The shark, named after Cape Breton, has been tracked as he has traveled a remarkable 41,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean.

Over the past 72 hours alone, Breton has covered nearly 139 miles, heading westward toward Florida’s warmer waters.

Having left the colder waters of Newfoundland in November, it appears that Breton has migrated south, likely in search of warmer seas and more plentiful food sources.

His recent location places him near the Blake Plateau, a deep-sea area rich in marine life, making it an ideal hunting ground for a predator of his size.
