Marshall Munetsi makes a strong first impression as he debuts for Wolverhampton Wanderers in an FA Cup victory over Blackburn Rovers

Marshall Munetsi couldn’t hide his excitement after making his first appearance for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder, who recently joined Wolves from French club Stade de Reims, came on as a substitute in the 66th minute during their FA Cup Fourth-Round win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

“I’m so delighted because it has been a dream come true for me to represent a big club like Wolves.

What a way to start,” Munetsi shared with Wolves media after the match.

Making an Immediate Impact

Even though he had less than 30 minutes on the pitch, Munetsi made his presence felt.

The 28-year-old midfielder showed great movement, got into strong attacking positions, and even came close to scoring.

In the 73rd minute, he connected with a Rodrigo Gomes cross, but his header narrowly missed the target.

His short but impactful performance included three attempts on goal, 18 touches, and an impressive 82 percent pass completion rate.

Inspired by the Wolves Fans

One of the highlights of Munetsi’s debut was the warm reception he received from Wolves supporters.

The passionate energy from the traveling fans gave him an extra boost to keep pushing forward.

“I’m 28 now, and I’ve learned a lot from football.

This is the right time for me to showcase it,” he said.

“Even though I didn’t score, hearing the fans cheer for me gave me the energy to keep going. We have some amazing players who provide great passes, and I just have to keep working hard for the next games.”

Munetsi was particularly impressed by the electric atmosphere in England, something he had always heard about but was thrilled to experience firsthand.

“In France, we have supporters, but I’ve always heard about the amazing fans in England.

Now, at Wolves, I really felt it. That support drives you to keep going, even in the final minutes of the game. I truly appreciated the love from the fans.”

Fitting Right Into the Wolves Squad

Despite being known primarily as a defensive midfielder, Munetsi showed his attacking instincts during the game, making three touches inside the opposition’s penalty area and delivering two key passes into the final third.

His transition into the team has been smooth, and he credits his teammates for making him feel at home.

“The team had already done the hard work by taking the lead, so I just came in to do my part,” he explained.

“It’s been an easy adjustment because everyone here is so kind and helpful.

From the coaching staff to my teammates, they’ve made sure I settle in quickly.”

Munetsi is now focused on adapting to the club’s playing style and contributing to Wolves’ success in the coming matches.

Looking Ahead

With his first appearance in the bag and a promising start to his Wolves career, Munetsi is eager for what’s to come.

His debut performance has already caught the attention of fans, and if he continues to impress, he could become a key player for the team.
