Manchester United’s coaching staff are growing increasingly frustrated with the performances of Rasmus Hojlund, the club’s £72 million striker, following a string of disappointing displays.
With the team struggling to find form, Hojlund’s inability to deliver in crucial moments has become a major concern.

Tensions within the coaching setup reportedly escalated after United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham, where one staff member was particularly disheartened by Hojlund’s display.

Since Ruben Amorim took charge in November, Hojlund has only completed a full 90 minutes on five occasions, often finding himself substituted.

However, club legend Rio Ferdinand believes the young striker needs to adjust his approach.
Ferdinand pointed out that Hojlund’s tendency to engage in physical battles with defenders might be hindering his effectiveness.
He advised the striker to focus on positioning rather than constant physical duels, allowing him to receive the ball in more dangerous areas.
“Confidence has obviously left the building in terms of the striker department,” Ferdinand said.
“One of the things with Hojlund is that he’s always trying to fight the defender.
Sometimes, you need to release yourself from contact to get into better positions and make an impact.”

Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford from Atalanta in July 2023 with high expectations, especially after Manchester United stretched their budget to secure his signature for £72 million.
While his debut season in England saw him score 16 goals, his recent form suggests he will need to improve significantly to cement his place under Amorim.
With United struggling in the bottom half of the table, the pressure is mounting on Hojlund to step up and prove his worth.
