A 56-year-old man named Anthony Roberts has been charged with attempted murder and sexual assault following an incident in Worcester, in which a woman in her 70s was stabbed multiple times.

Roberts appeared in Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday wearing a grey round-necked sweatshirt.
He only spoke to confirm his name, age, and address during the eight-minute hearing.
Roberts was not granted bail, and he was remanded in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on June 5.
During the hearing, which lasted for eight minutes, prosecutor Kate Hatton and defence lawyer Mark Turnbull made legal submissions while Roberts was flanked by a security officer in the glass-fronted dock.
Roberts mostly looked downwards throughout the hearing.
