Man dies in helicopter-riverbank collision

In the NSW Hunter area, a man died when his helicopter collided with a riverbank.

In response to reports of the collision at about 4.20 p.m. on Thursday, emergency personnel flocked to Campbells Rd in Maitland Vale.

Near the town of Maitland, rescuers discovered a Bell “Jet Ranger” helicopter that had crashed on a riverbed.

Inside the plane, a deceased guy, who has not yet been named, was discovered.

Police have set up a crime scene and are still present.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau was informed by the police, and it will look into what caused the collision.

The coroner will get a report.
