A man and a woman have been detained following the tragic death of a one-year-old son in Birmingham.
On Saturday night, April 16, emergency services were rushed to Laxey Road in beautiful Edgbaston, Birmingham, where the toddler was discovered in cardiac arrest.
Police have confirmed that two people – a 35-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman – were arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child.
They have since been bailed while officers investigate the circumstances of the boy’s death.
Police have said a post-mortem is set to be carried out ‘in due course’ to determine the cause of death, Birmingham Live reports.
Photos from the scene show forensics officers walking in and out of a property in the road following the incident, while plain clothes detectives knocked on doors in the street.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said, ‘We were alerted to a one-year-old boy in cardiac arrest at an address in Laxey Road, Birmingham, on Saturday evening, April 16.
‘The baby was taken to hospital but tragically passed away.
‘A 25-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child and have been bailed while our enquiries continue.’
