Now, they are just a few key victories away from sealing second spot in the league. Therefore, kicking Amakhosi out of the final CAF Champions League spot – a position they need to salvage an otherwise lacklustre season.

When MaMkhize took over at Royal AM (formerly known as Bloemfontein Celtic), not many would have predicted her success with the club.

She is on the brink of leading her side to an historic CAF Champions League. Much like how Benni McCarthy rose AmaZulu from the edge of relegation to Africa’s top club competition.

AMAKHOSI’S LOSS IS MAMKHIZE’S GAIN

Royal AM have occupied second position in the DStv Premiership for large parts of the season,

Chiefs 1-0 loss to SuperSport United means that AM’s 1-1 draw against Cape Town City brings Andile Mpisane and MaMkhize’s side 1 point closer to taking away Amakhosi’s chances of playing CAF Champions league football next season.

As things stand, Royal AM lie in second position on 44 points from 25 games.

The Glamour Boys are on 39 points but they have two matches in hand. Chiefs have played 23 matches to date as a result of their two postponed fixtures. This means, they can still go above Royal AM if they win both of their games in hand.

Amakhosi have seven matches left while AM are left with five games this season.

MaMkhize has achieved wonders with her side this season and she could conquer Chiefs fully come the final day of the season.
