In a fun prelude to the 2025 World Darts Championship, 17-year-old Luke Littler took on comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan in a lighthearted darts challenge.
The two comics, known for their humorous antics, faced the rising darts star in a special episode of Rob & Romesh vs Darts, set to air on New Year’s Eve.
Rob and Romesh Get a 499-Point Head Start Against Littler
During the game, Beckett and Ranganathan only needed two points to win, while Littler had to start with a full 501, giving the comedians a massive 499-point head start.
Just like a typical darts match, the challenge required the pair to finish on a double 1.
A Close Game Filled With Laughs and Surprises
Littler kicked off the match strong, scoring a ton with his first three darts.
Meanwhile, Rob Beckett’s first dart missed the board entirely, while his second dart landed in the single 4 section.
Despite a shaky start, the two comedians continued to play, with Romesh following up with a missed dart and Littler scoring 25.
In the end, Littler wrapped up his leg with a 96, but it was Beckett who managed to hit the double 1 to win the match.
Rob, clearly excited, celebrated by exclaiming, “I’ve just beaten Luke Littler!” three times while raising his arms in victory.
Littler’s Humble Response and Sportsmanship
The young darts sensation, who is aiming to become the youngest world champion in history, laughed off the defeat and congratulated Rob with a handshake, saying, “Well played mate,” before the two shared an embrace.
Redemption in 2025 After Narrow Loss in 2024
Littler is looking for redemption in this year’s championship after a stellar debut in 2024, where he made it to the final but was defeated by Luke Humphries.
However, Humphries’ early exit from the 2025 competition — losing 4-1 to Peter Wright in a tearful match — may open up the tournament for Littler.
With his path to the quarter-finals still on track, Littler is now one step closer to achieving his dream of becoming the youngest-ever World Darts Champion.
