After a literal trip to the edge of Earth, Lauren Sanchez came back down to find herself greeted with love, support—and a seriously luxurious surprise from her famous friends.
Sanchez, who recently rocketed into suborbital space on a Blue Origin mission, revealed that Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and Khloe Kardashian gifted her a designer handbag worth nearly $7,000 to celebrate the milestone. And fittingly, the purse was completely space-themed.
An All-Woman Journey Beyond the Sky
On Monday, Lauren, 55, embarked on a history-making flight aboard fiancé Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket.
The mission was a quick but symbolic 11-minute ride that took an all-women crew past the Karman Line—the unofficial boundary of space.
Joining her on this unforgettable journey were singer Katy Perry, CBS host Gayle King, filmmaker Kieranne Flynn, NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, and activist Amanda Nguyen.
The women experienced about three minutes of zero gravity before safely returning to Earth.
A Gift That’s Truly “Out of This World”
Once her feet were firmly planted back on the ground, Lauren took to Instagram to share a heartfelt thank you to Kris, Kim, and Khloe, who gifted her a Judith Leiber UFO-inspired crystal clutch.
The handbag sparkled in a close-up photo that Lauren posted, captioning it with a simple: “Out of this world!”
The trio’s support didn’t stop there. Kris reposted the image with a sweet message that read, “We love you and are so proud of you.”
A Clutch That’s a Celestial Work of Art
This wasn’t just any bag—it was a statement piece made in Italy, covered in jet and indigo crystals with star-shaped and geometric details.
It even had a silver-toned frame and a crystal push-down closure, designed to resemble a tiny spaceship.
Though currently sold out, it carries a price tag of $6,995.
According to its item description, the bag is “ready for all your evening voyages,” and it certainly seems made for someone who just returned from a literal one.
Kardashian Support From the Ground
Kris and Khloe were physically present at the Blue Origin launch site in Texas to show their support.
Speaking to the media, Kris called the event “very brave” and said she felt honored to witness such a powerful moment in history.
“I’m so proud of her,” she added. “It’s incredibly inspirational.”
Khloe echoed her mom’s sentiments, emphasizing how empowering it was to watch women take on such bold adventures. “Really, whatever you dream of is in reach,” she said.
Dream big, wish for the stars—and maybe one day you’ll be among them.”
Not Everyone Was Applauding
While Lauren and her fellow crew members were breaking barriers, some celebrities weren’t impressed.
Public figures like Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Munn, and Amy Schumer expressed criticism about the space trip, calling out what they felt was misplaced priorities.
Gayle King Pushes Back Against Space Hate
Gayle King, one of the passengers on the flight, didn’t stay silent in the face of criticism.
She opened up about how hurtful it was to hear negative comments—especially from people she knew personally.
“This is what bothers me,” she said. “Space is not an either/or thing.
Just because we went up there doesn’t mean we’re taking anything away from Earth.”
Gayle also pointed out a double standard in how male astronauts are praised, while women are sometimes diminished. “‘Don’t call it a ride,’” she said firmly. “It’s a flight.
It’s a journey. There’s nothing frivolous about what we did.”
A Mission Meant to Inspire
Despite the backlash, Gayle and Lauren both stressed the bigger picture: inspiring future generations.
Gayle reminded everyone not to downplay the impact this kind of journey can have, especially for young girls dreaming big.
“Please don’t ignore that,” she said. “This is about showing women—and everyone—that they can do extraordinary things.”
