LASPPPA has denounced the illegal activities of developers in Lagos State

In addition to issuing a stop-work order on the ongoing construction of the Alade Market Shopping Complex, Ikeja and Triangles Mall, Osapa London, and Lekki-Epe Expressway, the enforcement team of the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has denounced the illegal activities of developers in the State.

The General Manager of LASPPPA, Tpl. Kehinde Osinaike, bemoaned the pace of contempt for the State’s Physical Planning Laws, particularly among construction developers in Lagos State, while speaking during a routine enforcement operation on unlawful developments in Ikeja.

He said that the developer failed to regularise his documents, obtain the required licences, and receive building approvals, therefore the sealing of the unlawful construction work within Alade Market, Ikeja, became imperative.

He claims that “the developer has repeatedly violated Government Seal and continued construction in flagrant disrespect for the Physical Planning Laws of the State” despite the fact that “this particular property has been sealed on three occasions in the past due to lack of Planning Permit.”

Osinaike further revealed that a third unapproved building, Triangles Mall at Osapa London, Lekki-Epe Expressway, which has also been sealed, is being managed by the same unrepentant developer in charge of the Alade Market project.

He pointed out that this particular developer refused to follow the order and instead chose to carry on with development at the Triangles Mall in spite of violation letters being filed on the project and others nearby asking compliance with the law.

The Authority would not give up on fulfilling its responsibility to see that physical structures are developed in accordance with Physical Planning Permit Laws to ensure the protection of lives, property, and the general well-being of Lagosians, the General Manager emphasised.

The General Manager-led enforcement team expanded its operations to the Ogudu and Agboyi-Ketu regions of the State, where real estate that had previously received notifications to comply with the Physical Planning Permit Laws was either sealed or served additional notices.
