In a heartbreaking turn of events, a young man named Jakub Jarzecki, only 21 years old, lost his life after a night out with friends following a work shift.

The Italian national, who worked at food supplier Wellocks in Lancashire, had just clocked out when he and his colleagues decided to celebrate after learning that a friend had been suspended from work.

Friends Gather to Support

Jakub, along with his brother-in-law Mateusz and several coworkers, headed to a colleague’s home on Castle Street for drinks.

Initially, it was meant to be a lighthearted gathering, but things took a concerning turn.

After a couple of hours, Mateusz received a frantic call alerting him that Jakub was in trouble.

When he arrived at the house, he immediately sensed the severity of the situation.

A Disturbing Scene

Witnesses described Jakub as being in distress, speaking incoherently, and exhibiting strange behavior.

Mateusz, alarmed by Jakub’s condition, insisted on calling for help, exclaiming, “He looks like he’s dying.”

Paramedics arrived at 9:32 AM to find Jakub with a dangerously high heart rate and other alarming symptoms.

Despite their best efforts to stabilize him during transport to the hospital, he went into cardiac arrest just before reaching the emergency department.

Desperate Attempts to Save Him

Medical staff at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital worked tirelessly for 30 minutes, administering CPR and other treatments.

Sadly, their efforts were in vain, and they ultimately declared Jakub dead.

Reflections from Friends and Family

Katarzyna, a friend who was present that night, described Jakub as cheerful and easy to talk to.

She recounted how the night started with the intention of supporting their suspended colleague, but it quickly spiraled out of control.

Mateusz expressed confusion and frustration over why an ambulance wasn’t called sooner, suggesting that drug use may have played a role in the hesitancy.

Investigations and Discoveries

Following Jakub’s death, police searched the house and found two empty bags typically associated with illegal drugs, although no evidence confirmed drug use that night.

Detective Inspector Iain Czapowski noted that the consumption of alcohol was significant.

Toxicology tests later revealed that Jakub had lethal levels of MDMA (ecstasy) in his system, leading the coroner to conclude that his death was drug-related.

A Community in Mourning

The tragedy has left Jakub’s family and friends in deep sorrow.

His sister, Klaudia, expressed that coping with the loss has been incredibly difficult.

In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe page was set up to help with funeral costs, raising over £2,000 to ensure Jakub received the farewell he deserved.
