Lagos state restates commitment to enabling business environment

The Lagos state government has reiterated its commitment to improving the business environment in the state towards making it more attractive to investors.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said his administration would continue to place high priority on key infrastructure that would make the State more viable for investments.

Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the assurances at the Lagos State Day held during the closing ceremony of the Lagos International Trade Fair.

Sanwo-Olu who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Femi Hamzat, said the state in its plan to build a 21st century economy has clear intentions of according the private sector a place in its vision to give room for inclusive growth.

“I would like to assure members of the business community in Lagos State that the State Government, under the able leadership of my administration is committed to improving the business environment towards making it more attractive to investment.

We shall continue to place high priority on key infrastructure that would make our State safe, secure, functional and productive as an impetus towards achieving sustainable economic growth through highly-motivated and vibrant private-sector participation.

He also highlighted some of the steps being embarked upon by his administration with the objective of making the environment more conducive for investment to thrive.

” Included in this category of projects with great multiplier effects on business growth are the Lekki deep sea port project and the Blue Line rail project among others.

We have also not relented in our efforts in the areas of ensuring improved power supply and enhanced internet connectivity which is a major component of the smart city project.

I will not fail to mention the massive investment in stepping up the capacity of our security architecture which has ensured that Lagos State remains one of the safest States in Nigeria”, he said.

On her part, the President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Mrs Toki Mabogunje urged governments at all levels to continue to address the issues of enabling business environments in the country, especially as regards infrastructures, insecurity, and right policies.

She emphasized that an enabling business environment would help to fully harness the huge enterprising resource of domestic and foreign investors needed for the diversification of Nigeria’s economy.

The 2021 edition of the Lagos International Trade Fair organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry began on Friday, 5th November and ended on Sunday, 14th November, 2021.

The theme of this year’s fair was ‘Connecting People, Creating Value.
