At the Y2021 International Arts and Crafts Expo (INAC) held at the Sheraton Hotels & Towers in Abuja, Lagos State received five honors.

Mr. Oladusi Komolafe, the Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, who led the State’s delegation to the event, accepted the awards on behalf of the State Government, reiterating the government’s commitment to the promotion of arts and culture.

“Lagos State is resolved to continue to display its best of Arts and Cultural heritage in order to encourage domestic and international tourism,” he said.

The Director-General, National Council for Arts and culture, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, speaking on the theme of the three-day event: ‘Networking Nigerian Arts and Crafts to the World’, said all avenues to showcase Nigeria’s strength in the best of arts, crafts, textiles, dance and drama will be explored to the fullest.

In his contribution, the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Reuben Abati, said the nation’s overdependence on oil has led to the neglect of the art and creative industry.

He advocated urgent diversification of the nation’s economy, stressing that the art and creative sector is capable of generating huge and stable income for the country.

The annual event is a platform for showcasing the works of the creative industry in music, arts, crafts, textiles, dance, drama and cuisines across the Federation.
