The news of a Lagos pastor allegedly involved in sexual misconduct has stirred public attention, but the man at the center of the storm, Chris Okafor, appears to be keeping a low profile.
Sources reveal that the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries did not appear when invited by the police to respond to allegations of multiple rape and other offences that could disrupt public peace.
Police Summon Cleric, But He Fails to Appear
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti had asked Okafor to report before the Deputy Commissioner of Police at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
According to the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh had ordered a thorough investigation into the allegations against the pastor.
Despite the directive, an SCID officer who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that Okafor did not show up.
“After the CP’s directive on Sunday, the DCP instructed the office handling the case to debrief him, but they waited and did not see him.
It is evening already, and he is obviously not coming here today,” the officer explained.
Emissaries Request More Time for the Pastor
Further insight from another police source indicated that Okafor allegedly sent representatives to ask for an extension to report.
“We received calls from some people who appealed on his behalf, asking for more time. They assured us he would still show up,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the police have assured that adequate security has been provided for any alleged victims and encouraged them to come forward at SCID, Panti.
They also emphasized that the identities of victims and witnesses would be protected throughout the investigation.
Victims and Witnesses Yet to Step Forward
Despite these assurances, no victims or witnesses have reportedly come forward to identify themselves or provide statements so far.
The police confirmed this absence, indicating that investigations are ongoing but hampered by a lack of direct testimony.
Attempts to reach Abimbola Adebisi for comments on Monday were unsuccessful, with calls unanswered and text messages unreplied.
Allegations Spark Public Outcry
The controversy surrounding Pastor Okafor first emerged in mid-December 2025, when multiple allegations surfaced on social media.
Among those making accusations was Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who shared on Instagram that she had a long-term sexual relationship with Okafor dating back to 2017.
She also claimed that he broke promises of marriage, shared explicit content, and contributed to the collapse of her previous marriage.
Pastor Apologises Amid Growing Scrutiny
In response to the growing public outrage, Okafor addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, apologizing for past “mistakes” and even kneeling at the pulpit to ask for forgiveness.
The scandal has reportedly caught the attention of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, which is said to be considering disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, the pastor is said to have stepped aside from active pastoral duties as investigations continue.
The Road Ahead
With both the alleged perpetrator and potential witnesses yet to fully engage with authorities, the case remains in a delicate and unfolding stage.
Investigators are under pressure to ensure justice while maintaining the confidentiality and protection of anyone involved.
