KZN Operation Dudula launch postponed

The launch of Operation Dudula in Kwazulu-Natal (KZN) has been postponed after police reportedly called for Saturday night’s meeting to be delayed.

The postponement follows concerns by the City of Ethekwini that possible violence may arise during the launch.

The group’s leader, Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini is due to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of housebreaking, theft and malicious damage to property.

This after a resident’s home in Soweto, Johannesburg, was allegedly ransacked by Operation Dudula members last Sunday.

Operation Dudula KZN Provincial Coordinator, Nico Dumakude says: The police department has raised concerns over the capacity not being ready in terms of the numbers and the mobilisation of other police from other towns in KZN, so they requested that it be postponed to maybe after the Easter Holidays.”

Operation Dudula members say Nhlanhla Dlamini’s arrest politically motivated 

Patriotic Alliance (PA) Deputy President Kenny Kunene has called for the immediate release of Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini. Dlamini. was arrested on Thursday after a criminal case was opened against him.

Dlamini has led numerous campaigns by the movement Operation Dudula targetting alleged illegal immigrants in parts of Johannesburg.

The legal representatives for Dlamini have expressed concern about encountering difficulties in their bid to get bail for him.
