Kylian Mbappe’shocked as everyone else’ by PSG departure

Kylian Mbappe rejected on Sunday recent media claims that he planned to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January, stating that he was astonished by the news.

“I never sought to leave in January,” he told reporters following Sunday’s Ligue 1 victory over Olympique de Marseille.

“I could not comprehend the information that was released on the day of the (Champions League match versus Benfica). I am not personally or indirectly engaged with this information.”

Several French media outlets reported on Tuesday that the striker was fed up with unmet promises by PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and desired to leave the capital immediately.

“I was as surprised as everyone else by this news. People may believe I’m involved, but I’m not,” Mbappe said.

“I was napping as my entourage attended my younger brother’s game. We were startled upon learning this.

“Thereafter, we had to deal with it since we had a game to play.” I just wanted to clarify that it’s entirely wrong; I’m quite content here.

The 23-year-old France international was linked to a transfer to LaLiga champions Real Madrid throughout the offseason and was set to leave Paris Saint-Germain after five years.
