Paris – France forward Kylian Mbappe stated that his struggle with the French Football Federation over image rights was a “collective effort” to aid team mates.
After media reports that Mbappe had declined to participate in sponsor events, the French Football Federation announced this week that it will reconsider its agreement on players’ image rights.
ESPN stated that Mbappe refused to participate in this week’s team photo and sponsor events because he does not wish to endorse certain sponsors, such as fast food outlets and betting companies, under contract with the national team.
“(The gang) has always been behind me,” Mbappe remarked following France’s 2-0 Nations League victory against Austria on Thursday. “From the start, it was a joint effort.
“It’s just that I have no difficulty battling for my teammates from the front of the stage. As previously stated, it is not difficult to accept criticism. I am accustomed to it.
“It won’t affect how I play or live my life, and if it helps the group achieve their goals, that’s the most important thing.”
