Kevin Bacon Faces Cancellation of His Prime Video Series The Bondsman Despite Early Success and Positive Reviews in the United States

It’s always tough news when a show with big names behind it doesn’t make it past the first season, and that’s exactly what happened to Kevin Bacon’s latest project, The Bondsman.

Despite some early buzz and positive reviews, Prime Video decided to pull the plug on the series after just one season.

Early Success Didn’t Last Long for The Bondsman

The show, which premiered all eight episodes on April 3 following a debut at SXSW, seemed to have a promising start.

It even made the Nielsen Top 10 streaming chart in its first week, ranking ninth on the Originals list with an impressive 563 million minutes watched.

But things quickly dropped off, and by week two, The Bondsman was no longer on that chart.

Interestingly, the show still managed to hold onto a solid position on Prime Video’s own Top 10 list, sitting at number five in the US. Critics were mostly positive, with the series holding an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it just couldn’t keep the momentum going with viewers online.

What The Bondsman Was All About

The series followed Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter who gets a second chance at life, love, and even his forgotten musical career — but with a dark, supernatural twist.

This unique blend of drama and fantasy gave Kevin Bacon a fresh character to explore, and fans got a glimpse behind the scenes recently when Bacon shared a video of his elaborate makeup process on Instagram.

Kevin Bacon’s Instagram Connection with Fans

With 4.6 million followers on Instagram, Kevin Bacon often gives fans a peek into his work and life.

Recently, he posted a cool video showing how makeup artists apply the tattoos and scars that bring his character Hub to life, captioning it, “TV magic: Hub’s tattoos in #TheBondsman.”

A Look into Kevin Bacon’s Personal Life

Away from the screen, Kevin Bacon has been happily married to actress Kyra Sedgwick since 1988.

They’re proud parents to two grown children, Sosie, 33, and Travis, 35.

On Mother’s Day this year, Kevin took to social media to share some sweet throwback photos of Kyra with their kids, writing, “I’ll take any excuse to celebrate you.

Happy Mother’s Day @kyrasedgwickofficial, I love you and our family.”

How Kevin and Kyra’s Love Story Began

Kevin recently shared some heartwarming stories about how he met Kyra.

The pair first crossed paths back in 1978 when Kevin was 19 and Kyra was just 12. Her mom had seen Kevin perform in Off-Broadway plays and knew young Kyra admired him.

Kevin recalled bumping into Kyra while grabbing lunch in New York.

“This 12-year-old girl came up and said, ‘Hi, I liked you in the play,’” he said.

Years later, they met again on the set of the 1987 movie Lemon Sky, and the rest is history.
