The circumstances surrounding the death of a 24-year-old Kenyan-Bahranian female athlete in Kenya’s Iten town are being investigated by police.
Damaris Muthee Mutua’s decomposing body was discovered in one of the city’s residences, which is known for producing world-class athletes.

The long-distance runner was last seen in town with her Ethiopian partner, according to police. Sarah Kimani has the story.
On Tuesday, Muthee’s decomposing remains were discovered in the man’s home, with preliminary investigations indicating that she was murdered by her boyfriend, who has since fled the country.
According to authorities, the suspect informed one of his Iten pals about the event, who then informed the cops.

Agnes Tirop, a former world record holder and two-time world championship bronze medallist, was found dead at her house in Iten seven months ago.
Tirop died as a result of a stab wound to the neck and a blunt head trauma.
Her husband has been charged with her murder.
