Kent RSPCA endangered by wildfire that swept up a nearby golf club

This afternoon, an uncontrolled wildfire broke out at Oast Park Golf Course in Snodland, Kent, endangering the RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre.

At around 2.30 p.m., a fire broke out on a former golf course in the Sandhole neighborhood, just off Malling Road, next to an animal rescue center.

Kent Fire & Rescue Service said, “Attending a fire involving trees and bushes at the Oast Park Golf Club on Sandy Lane Drive in Snodland.”

Nine fire engines are now at the site, and workers are attempting to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading.

 

In an effort to extinguish the fire, firefighters are presently pulling water from a neighboring property.

 

The RSPCA center said on Facebook, ‘We have had a large number of calls about the fire behind our facility and if we need assistance.

 

All animals and staff members are safe as firefighters battle the blaze.

This is one of numerous incidents that happened over the weekend; nine fire engines are also now combating a fire in Lambsfrith Grove, Gillingham.

 

Yesterday, firefighters fought a sixth fire on Dartford Heath in a month’s time. According to the warning, toxins and odors will linger for many days.

 

On Saturday, eight fire engines and staff went to a field fire on Oxenturn Road, Wye, Ashford.

 

The Kent Fire and Rescue Service has responded to more than 400 grass and wildfires this year.
