Kaizer Chiefs prepare to release midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane in South Africa after disappointing spell at Naturena

It looks like Kaizer Chiefs are continuing their major squad shake-up—and the next name on the chopping block is midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane.

After a brief and rather quiet stint with the club, the 30-year-old is now set to leave Naturena, just two years after his arrival.

A Big Move That Didn’t Quite Work Out

Mdantsane joined the Soweto giants in June 2023, with high hopes and a reported transfer fee of R3.5 million paid to Cape Town City. But despite the hype, things never really clicked.

He only managed to rack up 13 league appearances in the 2023/24 season, and strangely enough, didn’t feature at all the previous year.

When January rolled around, Chiefs loaned him out to Richards Bay FC.

That too didn’t go as planned—he made just three appearances for the club before returning.

Meeting to Seal His Future

According to reports from KickOff, Mdantsane’s future is being finalized behind the scenes.

He’s expected to meet with Kaizer Chiefs’ Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, before the week wraps up.

Word is that the club wants to give him a respectful send-off before officially announcing his departure.

A source close to the club told the publication:

“They are still finalising a few things before Kaizer Chiefs announce his departure.

The club is set to meet the player before the end of this week to shake hands and do a proper farewell.”

Mdantsane Joins a Growing Exit List

Mdantsane isn’t the only one packing up. Chiefs have already let go of four other players in recent days.

The exit list includes Edmilson Dove, Sabelo Radebe, Njabulo Blom, and Ranga Chivaviro.

On Tuesday, the club officially confirmed that Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove will be leaving when his contract expires at the end of June.

Dove had been with Amakhosi for three seasons.

In a statement, the club shared:

“Kaizer Chiefs and defender Edmilson Dove will part ways when his contract expires at the end of June.”

Eyes on Pre-Season and More Cuts?

With Kaizer Chiefs gearing up for a pre-season training trip to the Netherlands, the squad reshuffle is clearly in full swing.

More exits could still be on the horizon as the club rebuilds for the upcoming campaign.
