Kaizer Chiefs have just missed out on a potential signing for next season as their hopes of bringing in Samukelo Kabini from TS Galaxy fall through.
The 21-year-old defender was seen as a strong candidate to strengthen the team’s left-back position.
Chiefs had been keeping a close eye on him as they continue their search for a long-term solution in this area of the pitch.
Chiefs’ Search for a Left-Back Continues
At the beginning of the current season, Kaizer Chiefs signed Bradley Cross with high hopes, but unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to establish himself as the club’s go-to left-back.
The team later turned to Edmilson Dove, who made a return from injury.
However, while Dove is a solid player, he’s more naturally suited to a left-sided center-back role.
This is why the club was keen on exploring a move for Kabini to fill the left-back spot.
Kabini’s Move to Molde
However, Chiefs’ interest in Kabini has now been dashed. TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi confirmed that the young defender will be joining Norwegian club Molde FK instead.
Kabini, along with his new team, has already flown out to Norway, where he is scheduled for a medical before the transfer is officially completed.
Record Transfer for TS Galaxy
Speaking to SABC Sport, Sukazi shared that this transfer marks a significant achievement for the club.
He mentioned that the transfer fee would be paid in euros, and described it as a record-breaking deal for TS Galaxy.
Molde, who are known for their impressive performances in the Norwegian top-flight and the UEFA Champions League, have secured Kabini’s services.
Sukazi also emphasized how this move is a testament to Kabini’s quality and the transformation the player has undergone at TS Galaxy.
