Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up for another push to sign Fawaaz Basadien, the talented left-back from Stellenbosch FC, next season.
Chiefs have been eyeing Basadien for some time, but their efforts to bring him to Naturena have fallen short in the past two transfer windows.
However, it seems that they are not giving up on their pursuit of the 25-year-old defender.
Previous Attempts to Sign Basadien
During the off-season window, it was clear that Chiefs were keen on securing Basadien’s services.
However, Stellenbosch made it known that they weren’t willing to part with all of their key players.
Instead, they allowed captain Deano van Rooyen to join Orlando Pirates and striker Iqraam Rayners to move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Even Jayden Adams, who was reportedly set to join Sundowns, had his move blocked.
Unfortunately for Chiefs, Basadien was also unable to make the switch, and he remained with Stellenbosch.
Chiefs’ Continued Pursuit of Basadien
Despite setbacks in the past, Chiefs’ interest in Basadien never faded.
In the January transfer window, the club made further inquiries to understand the terms of a potential deal.
However, no significant progress was made, and Basadien stayed at Stellenbosch. Meanwhile, Adams did eventually make his move to Sundowns.
Still, Chiefs remained determined to land Basadien.
Chiefs’ Improved Bid for Basadien
Now, according to recent reports, Chiefs may have an advantage in their pursuit of Basadien.
The club has reportedly made an improved bid to Stellenbosch to secure the left-back’s signature.
An insider spoke to Soccer-Laduma, saying, “This is a much better and improved bid.
It’s about a player they really need, and they are giving it everything to sign him.
Although Stellenbosch is in control, Chiefs are determined to get him, which is why they have tabled a more appealing offer.”
