Black Coffee won his first ever Grammy Award at a glittering ceremony held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday night.
The KwaZulu-Natal-born DJ and producer won in the category Best Dance/Electronic Album for Subconsciously.
And Chiefs have joined the South African masses in congratulating Black Coffee who supported the club from the young age.
In November 2021, Black Coffee confirmed being an avid Chiefs fan, and one of the reasons he chose the Soweto giants over the rest of the South African teams was former star Doctor Khumalo.
Speaking on Vuma FM, as per Dispatch LIVE at the time, Black Coffee said, as a young boy, Khumalo became his instant role model.
“He is one of the reasons I support Kaizer Chiefs … he was a guy you wanted to model, you were like, ‘when I grow up I want to be like him’ because that’s the only way we understood what inspiration is,” said Black Coffee.
“In the township — back then — if the most coolest guy is a thug, that’s all you want to be because you look up to this guy, he’s so cool and he gets all the girls.
“And you get into it because it’s the coolest thing, and these are the men that saved us, pioneering excellence in the earliest of age … you’ve done so much for us.”
