Kaizer Chiefs: An exciting update on Mduduzi Shabalala’s Belgium trials

As The South African reported in recent weeks, the attacking midfielder/ forward earned himself a trial with Belgian second division side Wasterlo.

So how have things gone so far?

According to this latest report, Shabalala was first tried in the first team before he was given a chance with Wasterlo’s U21s, where he reportedly impressed.

“According to Siya sources, the 17-year-old spent the first few days training with the Westerlo first team which features Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster, under the watchful eye of coach Jonas De Roeck,” Soccer Laduma reported.

“Thereafter, he was sent to train with the club’s under-21 side, where he is understood to have impressed.

“The boy has done well over there. Indications are that he is not quite ready for the first team just yet, but could join the under-21 side, if he manages to impress in the friendly,” the report added.

Meanwhile, we will keep a close eye on any updates regarding the future of his Amakhosi star.
