In an era where celebrity lives are constantly under the microscope, Justin Bieber is no stranger to criticism.
But this time, he’s had enough.
Taking to Instagram with some unfiltered thoughts, the 31-year-old pop star opened up about the hate he receives online—and why he believes a lot of it has to do with envy.
“If I Were You, I’d Be Jealous Too”
In a now-viral Instagram Story, Bieber addressed his critics head-on.
“Hurt people hurt people,” he began, before adding, “And honestly, if I was [you], it would be hard not to be jealous if I saw me and Hailey going brazzzzyy.”
He wasn’t holding back. Reflecting on his marriage with 28-year-old model and skincare founder Hailey Baldwin Bieber, Justin went on to say, “Hailey and I are the Joneses that are impossible to keep up with.”
The couple, who have been married for six years, renewed their vows in Hawaii last May and welcomed their first child, Jack Blues Bieber, in August.
A Love Story That Goes Way Back
Justin and Hailey’s love story is anything but conventional.
The two first crossed paths backstage at the TODAY Show in 2009.
They officially started dating in 2015, had a few ups and downs, and then reunited in 2018 just three months after Justin’s split from Selena Gomez. The rest, as they say, is history.
Faith as a Guiding Light
But beyond the fame and fortune, Justin also leaned into something much deeper—his faith.
“They treat me like a** out here,” he admitted.
“But if I remember that I am flawed too and God forgave me, it helps me to stop feeling better than those people who are mean and hurtful.”
He got reflective, admitting his own imperfections. “When I’m really honest, I can be mean and hurtful too,” he said.
“My instinct is to be like, ‘Damn, I wouldn’t gossip and spread lies about someone on the Internet,’ but there’s other s*** I do I’m not proud of that God is gracious with.”
Calling Out Critics and Holding Onto His Faith
Bieber, who was baptized back in 2014 at Hillsong Church and is now part of Judah Smith’s Churchome community, wrapped his message with a bold spiritual declaration: “The enemy can’t win [because] I belong to the winner!” And in a line that raised eyebrows, he added, “[Your] bible can’t save [you].”
Fans and Followers Respond, Not All Kindly
As you’d expect, reactions came flooding in. Not all of them were kind.
“Nobody, I mean nobody is jealous of you and Hailey,” one Instagram user shot back.
Others chimed in with comments like, “It’s giving Kanye crashout,” and “Jealous isn’t the right word bro. Concerned maybe.”
Some were even more personal: “Jealous of having you as a husband? I think not,” one wrote, while another added, “You need help and that’s no secret.” Ouch.
Rumors of Control and Career Shakeups
Adding fuel to the fire, TMZ recently reported that Bieber believes Judah Smith has become too controlling—a claim that supposedly played a major role in his professional separation from longtime friends and business associates.
Over the past year, Bieber has parted ways with a string of people including manager Scooter Braun, business manager Lou Taylor, and several members of his security team.
From Drew House to Something New
Professionally, Bieber has also taken a sharp turn. He’s ditched his Drew House fashion brand and is now working with 3D designer Finn Rush-Taylor to launch a new athleisure line called SKYLRK.
It’s a fresh direction for the artist, who’s been laying low musically while focusing on his health after a diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt syndrome in 2022.
A Bittersweet Music Moment
While Justin hasn’t dropped much new music recently, his latest single “Moments” appeared on The Love Album: Off the Grid in 2023—an album released by his former mentor Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Diddy is now incarcerated in MDC Brooklyn, awaiting his federal criminal trial on May 5.
Navigating the Noise as a New Father and Husband
It’s clear that Bieber’s life has taken many twists and turns—from global superstardom to personal struggles, from self-reflection to spiritual conviction.
Whether you love him or question his choices, one thing is certain: Justin’s living out loud and on his own terms—even when the internet gets ugly.
